Founded in 1949, Ansonia Records has been a longtime supporter of the Latin music scene and has recently revived and digitized many of its past releases, and now the label has released a compilation that traces the evolution of salsa from its roots to its peak. Led by Rafael "Ralph" Perez, the label has played an important role in shaping the scene in New York's Latino community, releasing records featuring legendary musicians such as Arsenio Rodriguez and Mirta Silva, as well as a diverse range of sounds from the Caribbean.
